It could be hard to sleep when there is too much noise around you, such as someone snoring, loud neighbors, or traffic outside. But you can have a peaceful sleep with the QuietOn 3.1 Sleep Earbuds. People who are struggling to sleep, these earbuds can help you to have a peaceful sleep as they can block out all the noises coming from outside, which makes you restless.

The purpose of these earbuds is not to play music or white noise, but they are designed specially to block noises by using the Active Noise Cancellation. ANC in these earbuds is best to block low–frequency sounds such as hum noises, snoring, and other noises that can disturb your peaceful sleep.

Unlike the typical earbuds, these earbuds work differently. They are constructed just to sleep in. You cannot store them on the phone or listen to music. They are pretty tiny and soft, meaning that they can go well into your ears without causing discomfort, even when you are sleeping on one side of your body. They are basically there to help you have a peaceful sleep.

These earplugs are helpful for individuals with sleeping difficulties due to noise. They can be beneficial for light sleepers, night shift workers, commuters, and all those who live in an area with a lot of noise. These earbuds are more intimate and sound-insulated in shared areas where you can not control the level of sounds. Sleep technology continues to grow in popularity as individuals use technology to sleep better, and the QuietOn 3.1 earbuds are no exception. During this review, we are going to examine how effective they are, how comfortable they are, and whether they are worth differentiating. The earbuds may be of interest to the reader who is unable to sleep because of noise.

First Impressions

Unlike the regular tech earbuds, when you open the QuietOn 3.1 Sleep Earbuds, it gives you a feel that you are opening a medical device. The box of these earbuds is straightforward and is totally in line with the smart shape and style of Scandinavian design. Everything inside the box is neatly packed and gives you a look of detailed care that is put into making this stunning product.

Earbuds are placed in the charging case instead of the box.  It also includes a USB-C charging cable and three sets of soft memory foam ear tips so that you can select those that fit your ears. It has a quick start guide, but given how simple the setup is, most folks will not even read it. The charging case is very smooth, light, and does not show fingerprints. It is compact enough to fit in your handbag or travel bag, which is very good considering that some people travel or commute a lot.

To fit in the ear, the earbuds are pretty tiny, well, smaller than the majority of ordinary earbuds. No buttons, lights, or logo. They do not communicate via Bluetooth. This is because they perform the sole task of preventing noise to enable you to sleep better. They do not listen to music or make calls. All aspects of their design and style reveal the fact that they are created to serve one distinct purpose. In general, when you take out QuietOn 3.1 earbuds, the impression is peaceful and transparent; it is a device designed to help you stay asleep.

Design & Comfort

While designing these earbuds, the only thing that was kept in mind was to make them so that they just disappear from your mind when you go to sleep. And the build quality of the earbuds really means it. Plastic used to make these earbuds is of high quality with matte finishing to keep them scratch-free. These earbuds are lightweight and durable. The design is perfect to use them for 6 to 8 hours continuously without causing any ear issues. The earbuds stay flush with your ears without being uncomfortable because of the basic design, which also removes any protruding pieces.

The weight of each earbud is just a few grams, and these are the lightest earbuds you will find on the market. The size of the earbuds is so compact and specially designed to avoid any pressure on your inner ear area when you are sleeping or lying.  They are not sharp-edged and long-stemmed as standard earbuds or in-ear monitors; in fact, this model has no sharp angles at all; its shape is more pebble-like, tucked deep in the ear canal.

Ergonomically, they are solid hits. The memory foam ear tips included are in small, medium, and large sizes, and fit loosely upon the outer ear with a passive seal, which augments the active noise cancellation. Knowing how the fit is comfortable yet secure enough to remain in position throughout the night and not being too intense, the majority of users find them safe enough to stay stable throughout the night without the discomfort of being plugged in.

The QuietOn 3.1 sounds way better and more comfortable than ordinary earplugs, which is why the following takeaway is essential. The foam earplugs might not work and can fall out during the night or compress too firmly. Instead, these earbuds have superior noise isolation, will not slide away during sleep, and become more comfortable after several nights of wearing.

It has a good design regardless of the sleeping position you find yourself in, whether you’re a back, side, or stomach sleeper. Side sleepers will find the earbuds unobtrusive, as they do not sink uncomfortably into the pillow, unlike most other models, due to their added bulkiness.

Noise Cancelling Technology

What makes these earbuds different from other earbuds, even from the same category, is that they employ the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology, not to enhance the music quality, but mainly to block all the low-frequency sounds and improve the sleep quality. Unlike the regular earbuds in the market, such as earbuds from Sony or Bose, which focus on enhancing the music and sound quality, QuietOn 3.1 are simpler and more focused. These earbuds do not get connected to your mobile phone or use any Bluetooth; instead, they use the Noise-cancelling system, which uses Feedforward ANC. These earbuds totally work on their own.

When you put these lightweight and tiny earbuds in your ears, the microphone in the earbuds listens to the voices in low-sound, such as traffic from a distance or snoring. Then, to cancel the noises, the speaker in the earbuds creates opposite sound waves. To make this happen, you do not need to press any button. You do not need any application or Bluetooth system; everything happens automatically. All you have to do is put the earbuds in your ears, and they will start working.

QuietOn 3.1 is highly effective at cancelling low-end noise, which can include:

The problem of snoring (deep, bass snoring in particular)
Traffic noise
Airplane cabin noise and HVAC
Hallway chatter, elevator dings at hotels

That is where it lets down, as might have been anticipated, in sudden, high-frequency sounds such as claps, alarms, or barking canines. In sleeping, however, low-frequency cancellation is the most needed, and in this department, the earbuds excel.

In comparison to similar ANC-based rivals such as the Bose Sleepbuds II, which have a system of noise masking (playing white noise on loop) instead of true ANC, QuietOn 3.1 makes the experience quieter and more passive. No background music, no dependence on the app, no silence. Although Bose does offer a more feature-rich experience, such as a companion mobile app that allows playback of sleeping sounds as well as monitoring of sleep sessions, QuietOn 3.1 is a device simply designed to help you eliminate distracting noise by acting at the source.

Whereas general-purpose ANC earbuds such as the Sony WF-1000XM5 or AirPods Pro have a broader focus, QuietOn is focused on a more minor feature set with a deeper user benefit: support during sleep. Such earbuds work best during the day and, in most cases, are cumbersome and uncomfortable to wear when you are lying down. QuietOn is sleep-optimized ANC designed to perform a single purpose, and it performs that purpose stunningly well.

Sound Quality & Performance

When we are talking about the sound quality and audio performance, it is essential to keep in mind that these earbuds are not for calls or music. In these earbuds, there are no speakers, no audio features, and no Bluetooth connection, unlike traditional earbuds. If we talk about the audio performance in these earbuds, it is all about Quietness.

The earbuds employ Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) that eliminates background noise, particularly low-frequency noise. It consists of such sounds as snoring, distant traffic, air conditioners, and even an airplane cabin rumbling. Instead of covering the noise with white noise or nature sounds (as in the case of Bose Sleepbuds II), QuietOn must claim to eliminate noise using noise-reducing waveforms completely.

This absence of audio playback can be viewed as a flaw by some. Still, in cases of light sleepers who want total solitude without being disturbed by white noise but also do not want to mask the noise with another audio signal that may annoy them more, the passive design of QuietOn is the only option: true silence instead of a silencing of noise.

During testing, the earbuds excelled and worked very well in real-life sleep conditions:

They drastically lowered the snoring of a partner in the bedroom. Suddenly, some acute sounds such as coughing or slamming of doors remained slightly audible, but the level of quietness was considerably increased.
The ANC sufficiently cut the droning engine hum during flights, making the experience much more restful than with foam earplugs.
In hotels, the earbuds reduced everyday annoyances such as people talking in the hallways, elevator beeps, and city noise.

As it pertains to this minimum objective, which is to put you to sleep, the effect is remarkable in its concentration and its silent power.

Battery Life & Charging

After fully charging these earbuds, you can use them for 28 hours. This battery life is enough to give you a peaceful sleep for 3-4 nights, and you do not need to recharge them. When these earbuds were tested in a real-world scenario, the battery life remained consistent. Moreover, the users verified that they have had peaceful sleep for 2 to 3 nights, even when they have used the earbuds for 7 to 8 hours every night.

The earbuds automatically turn on and off when taken and inserted into the case, which extends battery life, as they do not require manual activation. No program or start/stop button to play with, it is a smooth and set-and-forget program.

Battery reliability is excellent overnight. The earbuds never die in the middle of the night, which is paramount to dislodge one awake late in the darkness by other environmental sounds.

The charging case included is small and sturdy, has USB-C, and magnetically docks the earbuds. The battery can be charged within 2-3 hours to 100 percent and has extra charges built into it, including the case, providing longer traveling time or accommodation in different homes.

You won? Despite checking battery percentages in an application, the simple design, along with its reliability, makes charging and maintenance nearly effortless, which is what you want out of a sleep-centered product.

Ease of Use

QuietOn 3.1 Sleep Earbuds are exceptionally easy to use. Simply open them, charge them with the USB-C cable provided, and put them on. No one has to pair; there is neither an app nor a thing to configure. They boot automatically as they are taken out of the case and initiate noise cancelling without setting or a button press. They are thus best suited for use at night. It does not have controls to fumble around in the dark, there are no touch-sensitive surfaces that may trip out, and there is no need to keep your phone at hand.

Lack of an app appears to be a drawback; however, it is an asset in this case. Making it more straightforward, QuietOn provides the feeling of a distraction-free experience. All you have to do is put them in and sleep. They are among the easiest-to-use sleep earbuds out there, and they offer an actual plug-and-play experience that is focused on the simplicity and predictability required when trying to sleep.

Health & Sleep Impact

The QuietOn 3.1 earbuds can bring notable results when it comes to the quality of sleep, especially if you live in a noisy area or share a bed with a snorer. Clients often note the improvement in the quality of sleep, including fewer sleep disruptions, improved sleep quality, and waking up with improved vitality.

The foam-tipped and lightweight design can also be much more comfortable for individuals with sensitive ears than regular earbuds or over-ear headphones. It does not clamp, does not have rigid angles, and does not exert pressure at any point. Side sleepers as well as people with small ear canals have reported that they were comfortable enough to wear all through the night.

The QuietOn 3.1 can have a health-related response to individuals with health challenges such as insomnia or tinnitus. Although it does not produce white noise to cover ringing, it can be used to block out external low-frequency sounds that can create a more peaceful and quieter sleep environment–which can oftentimes be a beneficial aspect in both conditions.

Comparison Of QuietOn 3.0 & Others

The improved version of the QuietOn 3.0 is the QuietOn 3.1 Sleep Earbuds. Quiet 3.0 is also designed to perform the same job as it blocks the outside noises in low frequency and helps you have a better sleep. But the comfort and firmness of the QuietOn 3.1 is way better than the previous version. On the other hand, the charging ability lasts longer and works more reliably.

Some significant improvements have been made in this version compared to the previous one. It has better float tips, which give your ears a perfect fit. Additionally, the earbuds stay in place for the whole night, no matter if you are sleeping straight or on your side.  The charging case is more robust, and the magnets keep the earbuds more firmly. The chances of the earbuds not turning on or connecting are decreased, meaning that they are more reliable in terms of performance.

When you contrast Quiet On 3.1 with other sleep earbuds such as the Bose Sleepbuds II, you will find a drastic difference. Bose covers noise with relaxing sounds, whereas QuietOn attempts to provide actual silence by cancelling out the noise.

Bose earbuds offer more features; however, they require both Bluetooth and an app, which specific individuals may find disruptive when they are attempting to sleep. QuietOn 3.1 may appear to be more basic compared to general noise-canceling earbuds, such as Sony WF-1000XM5 or Apple AirPods Pro. However, those earbuds are not sleeping earbuds; they are larger, less comfortable to lie with, and not intended for overnight use.

They are not cheap because QuietOn 3.1 is pretty expensive. They can be worth it, however, if you are a light sleeper, work nights, or tend to have trouble sleeping due to noise. It is specifically created to be used during sleep; it is comfortable and trustworthy, unlike typical noise-canceling earbuds or foam earplugs. When you desire silent and effortless sleep without any additional features, QuietOn 3.1 is a good way to go.

Final Verdict

When noise is the key factor preventing you from sleeping, such as snoring, traffic, hotel noise, or thin apartment walls, then the QuietOn 3.1 Sleep Earbuds are undoubtedly worth considering. They are more expensive than regular earplugs and do not play music or connect with an application; however, they are designed to achieve one goal: providing you with silence during your sleep. These earphones are very effective for any light sleeper, shift workers, frequent travelers, or someone staying in a room with a snorer. They are small, comfy, convenient, and you do not even have to set them up. You simply insert them and go to bed. They will not be used to listen to music or make calls like ordinary earbuds, but QuietOn 3.1 is one of the best solutions when you simply want to remain quiet. These are the perfect sleep upgrade you can make if you have already tried sleeping with foam earplugs or noisy sleep apps and nothing has worked.
