The Truth Xero was the world’s first dual Dynamic driver with a proper subwoofer crossover, and now, nearly 3 years later, we have finally sealed the Truthear X Crinacle Zero: Blue 2. The Truthear Zero: Blue 2 has a dual dynamic driver IEM, with a 10mm driver dedicated to bass and a 7.8mm driver that handles mids and highs. Moreover, the bass driver uses a solid silica gel suspension along with a compound liquid crystal dome. The mid-high driver is an upgraded polyurethane suspension unit with a liquid crystal dome for better results.

The manufacturers used advanced manufacturing techniques, such as a silicone capping method typically found in expensive products and DLP-3D printing for the cavity. These earphones also have a reshaped cavity structure and a low-distortion frequency crossover to improve driver efficiency. This ensures that each unit performs its specific role effectively.

The ZERO: Blue 2 ear shells are made from medical-grade resin. The esteemed manufacturer HeyGears conducted three-dimensional printing. It introduces a refreshed faceplate design, refined support angles for best fit, and an optimized nozzle size. Additionally, buds have a sleek black finish, with intricate blue faceplates resembling interwoven leaves or insect wings. The ZERO: Blue 2 is lightweight, easy to wear, and provides satisfactory passive noise isolation despite its three voicing holes.

Overview of Truthear X Crinacle Zero: Blue 2

Let me just give you a quick summary of what’s new:

  • Zero Bluetooth still has the same renowned dual DD setup but now comes with improved drivers similar to the Zero Red.
  • The tuning is now more compliant with Harmon in-ear 2019, with improved Distortion performance.
  • With the big treble extension improvements, Bluetooth now reaches further into the air frequencies compared to the original zero and the zero red.
  • Like the red, it now comes with a base plus adapter. With this adapter, you can enjoy a 5 DB base boost with minimal volume loss.
  • Beta testers received a new upgraded cable and a new mic option that comes with an additional microphone cable.
  • The nozzles can be big Chalker, so on the buds at their widest point, the nozzle is now a much more manageable 6.2 mm.
  • The retail price is the same as the zero red: $64.99 for the no-mic option and just $5 extra for the microphone option.
  • The Blue 2 is available at the hangout.audio, shenzhenaudio, Amazon, and Ali Express.

Design and Fit

ZERO BLUE2 features a dual-cavity internal magnetic circuit with dynamic drivers, incorporating a 10mm solid silica gel suspension composite liquid crystal dome paired with an N52 magnet, along with a 7.8mm upgraded polyurethane suspension liquid crystal dome fitted with an N55 magnet. It utilizes a DLP-3D printing process for the cavity and a silicone-capping technique, methods typically reserved for high-end multi-driver products and custom earphones. Additionally, ZERO:BLUE2 is equipped with a newly designed copper silver-plated coaxial cable as in SoundPEATS Engine4.

The newly adjusted solid silicone suspension aligns with the liquid crystal dome diaphragm and features an ultra-thin wire diameter voice coil, creating a brand-new bass tuning system. This system utilizes a low-distortion frequency crossover design similar to that of the ZERO RED, resulting in significantly improved objective measurements, including lower nonlinear distortion compared to the original ZERO. Consequently, users can expect deeper and punchier bass performance.

Enhanced Performance

Like its predecessors in the ZERO series, the ZERO:BLUE2 features dual dynamic drivers. The design of the 7.8mm dynamic driver has been adjusted, concentrating on mid- and high-frequency ranges just like in Edifier W320TN Earbuds. This driver employs a refined internal magnetic circuit structure, using flexible polyurethane material for suspension and an LCP (liquid crystal polymer) dome diaphragm. Despite these similarities, the internal design significantly differs from earlier models.

TRUTHEAR increased the diameter of the magnet for the 7.8mm driver by about 25%, expanded the dome area by roughly 50%, and enhanced the high-frequency conductive structure. While these changes complicate the production and processing of this dynamic driver, they boost conversion efficiency and improve sensitivity in the upper high frequencies.

This not only meets our R&D needs but also results in objectively superior measurements, yielding a smooth, transparent, high-frequency response with improved extension and excellent resolution. Additionally, the 10mm dynamic driver, which manages the bass frequencies, has also been upgraded.

Hybrid Multiple Frequency Crossover

The manufacturer has restructured the cavity design and low-distortion frequency crossover circuit, drawing from valuable experience and user feedback from previous models with double dynamic drivers. This redesign aims to enhance the conversion efficiency of the dynamic drivers. As a result, users can find a significantly improved sensitivity.

The filtered nozzle, precisely printed by HeyGears using high-precision 3D-DLP technology, works in conjunction with a mixed multiple-frequency crossover, bringing the objective measurements of the ZERO:BLUE2 closer to the intended design goals.

Optimized DLP 3D Printing Materials

The shell of the ZERO:BLUE2 continues to benefit from the high-quality 3D-DLP services provided by the reputable brand HeyGears. The new model retains the design of the original ZERO but incorporates a redesigned face plate, thereby offering users a novel visual experience.

The optimized DLP 3D-printed resin material minimizes the local material thickness within the cavity while preserving impressive structural durability. You can find a refined nozzle size, which has modified the support angles and enhanced the overall comfort of the ZERO:BLUE2. Consequently, this results in a lightweight and skin-friendly cavity that renders it more suitable for prolonged wear just like in SoundPEATS Engine4 Wireless Earbuds.

Sound Quality

It is the most tip-dependent set of in-ear monitors I’ve ever encountered. I’m naturally a flat-head, so the Harman tuning is a bit too much “fun” for me in general. I typically prefer a vocal-forward or soft V-shaped sound signature, and while I can enjoy a little bass boost at times, I need a comfortably extended treble to accompany any tuning. This was not what I found in my first impression of the Zero Blue 2.

I used the stock silicone tips without a bass adapter for my first listen. I immersed myself in the Harman experience (I get why you like it, Harman fans; it’s just a lot), I discovered a set that’s not suited for me. It features excellent sub-bass and treble extension that improves upon the original, a dynamic and wide soundstage, and clarity undiminished by its sub-bass with the dual DD configuration.

I’m fairly treble-sensitive (hence flat-head status), so I like to test my worst-case scenario by playing “Looking for Somebody (To Love)” by 1975 as a reference track. Check it out, seriously. If I can play that song without tearing the set off my head, then I know I’ll be safe; the IEM won’t be able to hurt me. I enjoyed the set; I thought it had good note weight for its price range, along with a decent resistance to sibilance.
