The Edifier X3 TWS earphones are quite simple TWS earphones with several of the latest features. And there is no app that you can link it to. Just once in Bluetooth settings, pair it with your smartphone. This is the first step, and that’s it. There is no way to tell if the earbuds are worn out, so once the earbuds are removed, the music might still be playing and won’t pause. Edifier says the X3 is a water and dust-protected device with an IP55 rating. Thus, I tried it by coming with it for a shower, and it was still undamaged after all the splashes it went through.
Thanks to the new Bluetooth 5.0 and the Qualcomm aptX codec support, the Edifier stands out for its fantastic signal stability and audio response. Audio delays are hardly noticeable, and I’ve never heard my music jitter or stutter. The sound on these earphones is good. You get the best of low bass and where the vocals are evident.
The highs are sometimes too bright because the treble gets distorted when I play; it's too loud. The microphone features a built-in mic with CVC 8.0 noise-canceling technology. We passed the test with flying colors, but if it's noisy on their end, the person you're speaking to might have difficulty hearing you.
The charging case of the Edifier X3 is an excellent size and can be easily carried around. It won’t occupy much space in your pockets when it is folded. And even with sweaty hands, you can experience no slipperiness because X3 comes in a matte finish. Edifier claimed that the X3 can last up to 6 hours, and by the way I use it, it is just right or even more.

Design And Build Quality
The charging case of the earphones Edifier X3 is simplistic. It has a similar standard design: a perfect rectangle with rounded corners. Furthermore, it is small in size, light in weight (25 grams), and made of matte black plastic. The brand logo ‘Edifier’ is engraved on the top in white.
In addition, a long strip at the front opens the case; it is magnetically sealed between a built-in magnet and surrounded by quick-open and close with hands. If you open the box, you can see the L and R symbols on the earpieces separately. The “L” and “R” icons denoting the left and right ears also stick on the headbands.
There is a place to charge the earbuds, which start automatically when you put them in the case. You can find a blue LED light on the notch, informing you of the case’s remaining power.
The earpieces are elegantly designed in a smooth and portable “bean format,” coated in a matte black color, yet only 4.8g. Therefore, they are convenient to carry on the ear without disrupting your movements. The soft ear tips, which are silicon gray in color and rounded in shape, are inside the earphones, regulating air and ventilation’s internal and external pressure.
However, in a short distance, you will find the magnetic chip for charging and the microphone hole with excellent and clear sound reception during outgoing calls. Also, it has a noise reduction hole on the earpiece outside that works with the regular microphone to distinguish between the human voice and background noise. Let the button roll down; there will be an LED status light to see if the earphones connect to your device.
Touch Control Panel
For touch control, in Edifier X3, you can find a high-precision touchpad on the handle of the earphone, and touch sensitivity ensures precise control with high responsiveness to the input. The control includes:
- Turning on/off the earphones.
- Answering/keeping/rejecting a call, opening/closing the music.
- Awakening the voice assistant.
Other Operations
- Either way, it still does not possess the feature of adjusting tactile and increasing or decreasing volume.
- Instant touch – music sound off or sound on/stop or pick up the call
- Tap twice on the left ear, and you will return to the previous song
- Double Tap on hold of the right earbud for the next song
- Triple Tap – Invoke Siri/Google Assistant
- A long touch Tap for two seconds to reject a call/ disconnect the current A2DP connection
- 5-second press to turn on/off
You can only find a few controls, as I discussed above. There is a lack of wear detection, but I am okay with that. The earpieces are already sitting directly on your ears; you must plug them out anyway to hear the ones standing next to you.
Strangely, the product description includes the ability to answer/reject calls. However, achieving that function while using them is just too hard. However, the situation is irrelevant to me since I often answer calls directly from the phone.
Sound Quality
The Edifier X3’s sound quality is excellent for under $50, which is a decent price. The earpieces reproduce the music or spoken word content well and have impressive stereo separation.
Moreover, the earphones sound nice and can be interchanged with many music genres. I mostly play pop and electronic music, so I have used this music to test the headphones. While they provide heavy basslines that sound clear and deep, they are punch-oriented and produce a pleasant treble without any sibilance, supplying the needed clarity of vocals and instruments.
They have a warm signature and a touch of bass, which is not overwhelming so that I can listen to them for hours. With Qualcomm® aptX™ and SBC audio codecs, their sound quality is better than Edifier X2, which supports just 13mm drivers.
The earbuds sound good because they cost less. The rubber ear tips insulate against sound passively, and although this feature is below average, it is still adequate to keep sound disturbances at bay. The headphones are perfect for listening in terms of volume. I discovered my best beats were planned at 50%.
These wireless buds support Qualcomm’s aptX audio decoding. The decoding rate for a File is up to 352kbps, which is CD quality, so it is good enough. However, you need to know that MP3 files are the basic unit of musical sound, and the quality of the files depends on them. You cannot do anything about the sound of low-quality files; the X3 is just a portable speaker not designed to do that.
EDM songs sound the best these seven days through X3 earbuds. This is not to say that the bass is overpowering, like Beats; bass presence is balanced with treble, though not so much for mid.
Playtime
The X3 plays for 6 hours on a single charge, which is remarkable for such a small and lightweight earphone. The case’s charger provides an additional 18 hours of listening time before the case requires charging, meaning you will have 24 hours altogether.
Moreover, you can charge the case using the micro-USB; I wish to see it done using the USB Type-C as technologies advance. Such makes the earbuds look like they are stuck in the past. Charging will be for approximately 90 minutes. With fast charging, you can enjoy 1 hour of instant playback while charging for 10 minutes.
Regarding the battery, the built-in 500mAh Li-Polymer battery of the charging case provides the user with an additional 24 hours of continuous playback, which is very impressive. If we measure it by the level of independence of the other headphones, it can be categorized as above-average autonomy.
After connecting the earphones to the charging case, they will automatically identify a need for charging. The charger for the case itself can be set for up to 2 hours; then, the earbuds can be charged 4-5 times with a 60mAh battery capacity, which runs out of power after 4-5 hours of continuous use on a single battery charge of 0-100% during my testing. It takes about 1 to 2 hours to charge the case from 0-100% with the micro-USB cable at the back.
Noise Cancellation
The Edifier X3 does not have the Active Noise Cancellation that high-end earbuds usually have. Still, the passive noise cancellation they provide is quite effective in blocking out ambient noises around you. The headphones are considered to be lightweight and fit enough to provide inactive noise isolation and an immersive user experience.
There goes the opening at the top, which does the 3-dimensional drown-out, processes the internal digital signals with the CVC 8.0 algorithm, and suppresses the background noise while making the calls to create a clear sound. Therefore, this sound is satisfying because it’s not muffled too much and doesn’t make a hissing sound, which doesn’t mean the sound is absent. Overall, X3 does not align with its category in terms of its performance.
The CVC 8.0 noise-cancellation technology minimizes the surrounding noise, ensuring superior passive noise isolation for a user-satisfying experience.
In particular, the first part of the earpieces acts as the noise reduction aperture, capturing external noise. On the other hand, the CVC 8.0 algorithm, which performs internal digital data processing and background noise reduction during calls, helps generate clear sounds.
Suppose you don’t like the feeling of pressure in your ears when using earpieces with Active Noise Cancellation. In that case, you will love the passive noise cancellation technology from Edifier X3.
Connectivity and Pairing
It features an unequaled connection with iOS and Android devices, providing effortless cooperation between diverse platforms. Bluetooth 5.0 technology offers a firm and stable transmission, minimizing the delay and ensuring a smoother connection to improve sound quality. Even if neighbors are nearby and separated by thin walls, users can listen to music up to 10 meters from their devices. It provides an increased user experience through flexibility and freedom in the listening session.
Pairing the X3 with a device is a straightforward operation that is nearly identical to the pairing process of others. Open the case and get the earpieces out; they will turn on and go into pairing mode alone. Then, go to the Bluetooth interface of your smartphone, where the device’s name, “Edifier X3,” will appear saved for recognition. Within a picosecond, the pairing process will be accomplished and completed. Pairing initially happens when devices are manually set up for the first time, but such connections are automatic and fast as long as Bluetooth is enabled.
Additionally, users can have monaural listening with only one of the buds active while the other is in the case. Thus, they can customize their listening experience to suit them best. Whether people use them single in one ear for calls or maximize their battery life during longer listening sessions, they adjust for all tastes at their fingertips.
Call Quality
Edifier X3 also has excellent communication features, which are great for phone call quality. The microphone has proved out better, with an increased level of clarity and fidelity in audio reproduction.
Either by making phone calls or using voice memos, people can always depend on earpieces to capture their voice clearly and even at a proper volume. The microphone system delivers excellent accuracy, so the conversation is uncompromised and undistorted. No matter where you are, the microphone quality always remains consistent; hence, communication is smooth without the risk of re-adjusting it.
Users can even place phone calls with assurance without fear of quality drop-offs or noise interference from the background. The microphone system effectively cancels out the external voice.
This leads to clear pronunciation, which is the case even in noisy settings or when people are out. In general, speech quality measures their range and compatibility with everyday usage. Users are guaranteed consistently good quality audio reproduction regardless of the type of communication, whether the use is professional or personal. This means users have a companion to rely on for their on-the-go connectivity needs. You can try the TOZO T20 for better call quality, as the ENC with dual mic call noise reduction ensures clear and realistic call quality during phone conversations.
Waterproof Rating
Edifier x3 earphones are a never-to-be-missed element. Whether you are an active traveler or an exercise addict on a rainy day or a hot, sweaty session, these earphones are always there to deliver waterproof and dustproof protection.
This waterproof feature enables users to take their buds without fear of water or dust. With an IP55 rating, you can tap all the buttons, from jogging in the rain to hitting the gym for a rigorous workout, without fear of any environmental hazards disrupting your buds. Such shielding offers a wide range of uses. You can listen to music or listen to your favorite podcast in any weather conditions or environment.
Whether heading to work, running errands, or spending time outdoors, they will guarantee peace of mind as you know they have the durability you need to face your daily life. As opposed to regular earpieces with an IP55 certification, the confidence to use them daily is enhanced since they can battle all the elements. Whatever you are facing, whether it’s a challenging obstacle or just taking care of your daily activities, these earbuds offer both performance and peace of mind equally.
