Anker SoundCore Liberty Air 2 is a nice pair of truly wireless headphones that offer high-quality features such as wireless charging and mobile application for a good upgrade on the previous version of Liberty Air. Their sound profile is balanced, but with a slight boost for the bass kick, they offer versatility across different music genres. The battery life for the wireless headphones is impressive while supporting wireless and fast charging. They also remove much background noise to produce excellent audio results during calls.

Soundcore offers affordable Wi-Fi earbuds for users who don’t have thousands to spend on this kind of equipment. Air 2 looks similar to AirPods but is cheaper and budget-friendly than Apple’s. The Qi-compatible charging case supports fast wireless charging while offering prolonged battery time.

You can enjoy 7 hours of listening with a single charge while the charging case offers 28 hours of playtime. Put the case on a wireless charger for a power boost when it runs out of power.

Instead, those listeners seeking a truer sound signature should concentrate on Edifier and Samsung. Being one of the cheap pairs of true wireless earbuds, Air 2 surpasses expectations for how they should perform. It should be noted that Liberty Air 2 is discontinued, and the company's present top-of-the-line earbuds are Soundcore Liberty 4.

Design and Comfortable Fit

The Soundcore Liberty line has existed for over two years, but the first generation of the earphones did not look and feel expensive. This is okay, as those headphones are entry-level priced. However, when Soundcore rolled out the second generation, they took the quality of the product and its price a notch higher. These AirPods-shaped earphones have one-inch-long stems that hang down from your ears. They have a round rubber ear tip that fits the ears better.

It’s incredible how Soundcore brought some aesthetic updates to this second generation. The Liberty Air 2 is primarily matte black, unlike glossy (and therefore cheap-looking) plastic. On the outside of each earpiece, there is almost metallic grey. This matte gray finish also applies to the battery case to add a little more attraction to it.

Everyone has a different capacity and tolerance for fitness, affecting how much sound their ears can hear. The Liberty Air 2 earbuds are a perfect, secure, and comfortable fit. The set comes with five different sizes of ear tips, which provide enough customization you will ever require. A minor touch that is good on the comfort side is using that soft-touch matte plastic for the inside of the ear stems instead of the stickier feeling high-gloss finish. Therefore, this small part that fits your earlobe is much more comfortable than the former model.

Touch Control and Digital Assistance

A lot of wireless earbud manufacturers need to get touch controls right. Anker tried, but the company should have done better with its touch gesture system. Hitting the touch panels twice and starting or resuming the music was challenging. It also showed a lag when I held my finger down to turn on the digital assistant. However, I had to initiate long presses to power the buds On or Off for the touch controls to work appropriately. I tried the on-ear detection, which also worked well; the playback paused each time I took the buds out of my ears.

This will be another situation where you will carry out operations directly off the phone or simply with a digital assistant. Google Assistant and Siri work well, offering replies to questions as fast as the questions are received. When replying, Siri’s voice sounded a bit cracky and thereby caused an interference. However, the speech recognition in these buds was quite impressive.

The touch control of Liberty Air 2 has improved from its predecessor, and it’s all right. Unfortunately, the headphones only offer four programmable controls that can be customized within the companion app: double-tapping twice and long holding once for every ear. The touch controls have zero feedback, while you might hear some audio clues indicating the power on/off or pairing.

App and Special Features

Liberty Air 2 does not only have an in-built EQ but more to its extended functionality. You can create a variety of sound profiles either by manipulating the frequency levels manually or using the 22 EQ settings. This works great, especially for professional users. However, they score points with Anker by bringing their more advanced features even on the cheapest of their models.

HearID is a relatively recently developed approach where your hearing is checked on various frequencies, and other parameters such as age and environment are also considered before customizing the sound to your ears. Though it takes a few minutes to execute the feature, it is suitable for testing and somewhat effective by today’s standards. My Spotify playlists have always put me in a zone where I only need more low-end action.

It’s even fantastic that Anker has included numerous other bespoke EQs for Grammy-winning producers in the Soundcore app. The app doesn’t tell us which one serves the best for specific genres; we must do trial and error, listen to tracks, and cycle through each one after another. The Soundcore app lets you change over the controls, switch on the auto-pause function, install updates for firmware, and manage a charge on each bud.

Liberty Air 2 Sound Quality

Anker has done impressive things with audio improvement, like consulting award-winning record producers and including diamond-coated drivers. This decision was rewarding as the Liberty Air 2 pumps have quality and remarkable sound under a $100 budget. Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” might be good for bass lovers to sense Liberty Air 2’s warm signature. Freddie Mercury’s fiery performance flows over the record’s effervescent and powerful bassline and is presented much more pleasantly on these than on the Airpods Pro. However, unlike most models that cost similarly, they nail this song.

These buds cut out noise at 50% and removed sounds from the TV in the background, and the children played upstairs. The music sounded clear and complete when I listened in a calm setting. With Liberty Air 2, you will easily use it in mono or stereo mode through Anker. Unfortunately, listening to every media format in mono made the audio look swollen and small.

Playtime and Battery Life

When fully charged, Anker gives 7 hours of playtime. It is approximately 6.5 hours but less when considering high volume and heavy wireless streaming. It is enough playing time to keep you entertained during the week’s commutes to work and 2 hours more than AirPods Pro (4.5 hours). However, the company indicates on the product page that a 10-minute charge will give you 2 hours of playtime.

Also, the change from micro-USB to USB-C ensures fast charging compared to the previous edition. It adds a further four charges lasting 28 hours with the charging case. In terms of charging time, its case is like the Jabra Elite Active 75t (28 hours), while the AirPods Pro has a lower capacity at 24 hours. How does the Liberty Air 2 charge in another area where Soundscore attempts to give premium quality for less cost? Using a competent brick gives you about two hours of playing time on a ten-minute USB-C charge. In my subjective tests, charging up the whole battery case was quick. The fact that the wireless charging capacities have been built into the battery case makes the whole concept even more impressive. I am surprised how rare this feature is for something so portable as true wireless earbuds.

Call Quality and Connectivity

Anker’s new 4-mic system with cVc (clear voice capture) noise reduction tech works amazingly to capture vocals in low-noise environments. However, she could hear a certain crunchiness intermittently throughout the call, though we could shout loudly and clearly at each end. The Bluetooth functionality in Anker headphones is as strong as ever.

Pairing it to two Android phones (Google Pixel 2XL and 3XL) and MacBook Pro worked like a charm and remained stable when streaming from mobile devices to Spotify. The Liberty Air 2 also has a very long wireless range; I walked about my flat during calls on my phone in the bedroom and never got any dropouts. The good thing about aptX is that it allows less lossy compression of your audio over the Bluetooth protocol; aptx even includes Qualcomm.

Waterproof Ratings

The earbuds have an IPX5 waterproof rating to resist moisture and sweat in extreme conditions. This quality means that these earbuds will become your audio companions that can withstand all the challenges you face in your active lifestyle. The earbuds remain firm even in rain-saturated jogs, sweaty workouts, and even if it rains unexpectedly.

Liberty Air 2 has IPX5 ratings, providing strong protection against water splashes and jets coming from any angle, making them a viable choice for people who love to embrace spontaneous moments. No matter the situation, whether you are stuck in unexpected rainfall or engaging in strenuous exercise, the earbuds stay consistent and keep the audio experience consistent.

Whether traversing through the rain, working out at the gym, or coping with the daily hustle and bustle, your audio experience will always be intact. Being adaptive, earbuds get an IPX5 waterproof rating, making them suitable for routine life with ups and downs.

The waterproof ability of the earbuds raises them above mere accessories and turns them into durable partners that can withstand figurative and literal rain. Furthermore, the practicality aspect of the brand is well reflected in the earbuds as they are durable, yet they deliver excellent audio quality. Their waterproof rating is better than Soundcore Sleep A10, which has an IPX4 rating.

Wireless Charging

Due to the wireless charging, you won’t struggle to connect cables and look for the appropriate port anymore. Place your earbuds on a wireless charging mat and watch them charge effortlessly. This aspect makes recharging more convenient, as you can do it smoothly during everyday operations.

Wireless charging turns earbuds into a valuable accessory that ensures that you remain unbound (as far as connectivity goes) more meaningfully. Cumbersome cables are unnecessary in these smart TV models, meaning that your home will be clutter-free, and you will not have to keep replacing them now and then.

This feature integrates perfectly into your battery charging routines and does away with the conventional as it is simple and in line with the modern lifestyle. However, enjoy the wireless charging power, and the earbuds will deliver on performance, as they are meant to cater to the needs of a motion life.
