TOZO always surprises its users with eye-catching products; this time, it launched a flagship auditory product with sonic performance. TOZO Golden X1 earpieces have active noise cancellation to block external noise and IDAC support for exceptional sound quality. The most popular and impressive earbuds were the TOZO T10, and after that, the brand released another masterpiece, the Golden X1.
These earphones blow away with massive frequency, fantastic bass, and outstanding noise-cancelling ability. They are TOZO’s first step into the premium true wireless market because the sound quality easily matches the best. The buds also support a dual driver design with Hi-res certification and eight mics for clear call quality. With its audio performance, it is rival to my favorite Sony WF-1000XM4.
They also support the TOZO mobile app for basic customization and other settings available for Android and iPhone users. X1 boasts a hybrid driver system and balanced armature with 12mm dynamic drivers, which deploy treble and bass for ultimate sound quality. EarPrint technology customizes exclusive sound effects for users with different ear sizes and recompenses for hearing deficiencies.
These headsets also support LDAC high-resolution audio to deliver CD-quality sound over Bluetooth and have a Transparency Mode for hearing your surroundings. The advanced Bluetooth 5.3 technology offers instant pairing and stable transmission without interruptions. The nano-coating efficiently protects them from the damage of raindrops and sweat, and they have an IPX6 waterproof rating.
Moreover, they offer 8 hours of playtime on a single charge and 32 hours with the charging case. The charging case has a Type-C port and is also compatible with wireless charging, making charging worry-free and simple. Also, a digital LED smart display can help users know the remaining battery life in real-time.

Sound Quality
These earphones deliver a well-balanced audio profile and robust bass response., offering a strong depth without overwhelming the rest of the sound spectrum. Vocals come through delightfully, providing rich, clearly defined vocals that stand out. More delicate or softer music sounds impressive, as Adrianne Lenker’s song Anything sounds layered with Lenker’s tender and soft vocals. They have detailed and textured instrumentation that accurately reproduces several instruments’ details.
Layered and more complex songs like Parannoul’s Beautiful World are brought to life, fully encompassing the listener in intricate and glorious detail. The hybrid driver setup includes balanced armature drivers, such as a 12mm carbon nanotube diaphragm dynamic driver. This significantly improves the sound quality, resulting in an immersive and precise soundstage. LDAC codec support elevates the earphones’ audio, allowing for high-resolution audio transmission.
Instead, the Nothing Ear 2 earpieces feature an 11.6mm driver and an innovative dual-chamber design, which, according to the brand, enhances airflow for clearer audio reproduction. While X1 revealed detailed vocals and clear, high-pitched tones, the ANC tended exaggerated bass. With EQ customization, impressive bass response, and LDAC support, they are a standout option in the wireless earphone market.
During my testing, the default EQ setting slightly boosted the bass. However, switching to the Balanced EQ setting with the app makes a noticeable difference, allowing for more balanced audio. The noise cancellation influenced the bass response, and there was a tendency for exaggerated bass. Turning off the noise cancellation required me to activate the bass-boosting profile.
We cannot compare them with Apple AirPods, but for $149.99, you can still get an outstanding sound experience. The unique blend of Balanced Armor and Hybrid Dynamic drivers results in comprehensive frequency response, allowing the earpieces to reproduce various audio details precisely and clearly.
Active Noise Cancellation
TOZO Golden X1 also supports Active Noise Cancellation, ensuring one can immerse oneself in calls or music. The advanced noise isolation system is a lifesaver by keeping your volume reasonable. Moreover, Environmental Noise Cancellation and active noise cancellation effectively block up to 90% of the background noise. This feature makes it a reality, whether you are trying to drift into sleep during travel or want to enjoy your favorite tracks.
These earphones contain six microphones with noise-reduction technology and excel at minimizing distractions. The pair of earpieces intelligently adapt to your surroundings, providing a remarkable noise reduction of up to 42 dB. It allows you to enjoy crystal-clear communication during important phone calls. During my testing, they effectively counterbalanced various background noises, delivering a notable and nonstop listening experience.
You can easily toggle the noise cancellation On and Off, allowing you to adjust the noise reduction according to your preferences and environment. This will enable you to remain aware of your surroundings when necessary while enjoying the headset’s premium sound. These earpieces offer decent Passive Noise Isolation, blocking out background noise. The customizable ANC modes enhance the isolation performance, so enjoy your favorite podcasts.
These modes offer flexibility in tailoring the level of noise cancellation to your preference: Reduce Wind Noise, Noise Cancellation, Leisure Mode, and Custom Pattern. Compared to the Apple AirPods Pro 2, I noticed some background noise while wearing these earphones. The NC mode was impressive when commuting, but if you are walking along the street or running outside, you might need to use Reduce Wind Noise or Leisure Mode to hear what is happening around you.
With the wind noise cancellation, it is tough for users to get a good fit with headsets to black out the distortion caused by the wind blowing through their ears. Between the Reduced Wind Noise combo and the ergonomic fit, I faced little issues while listening to my favorite songs when it was windy. Users can customize ANC intensity from 1 to 10 in the custom pattern. ANC can help cancel low-frequency noises like airplane engines, traffic, etc.
Touch Controls and Connectivity
These headphones have intuitive, smart touch controls that are easy to use and customize. Users can activate different controls by pressing the earphones once, twice, or thrice or holding and pressing them for up to two seconds. They can use left and right buds to answer, reject, disconnect, and play music.
Each earpiece has unique touch functionalities. For instance, you can use only the left one to play the previous song, activate the Active Noise Cancellation/Transparent Mode, or lower the volume. In the same way, one can use only the right bud to play the next song on the playlist, activate the voice assistant, or increase the volume.
With the TOZO+ app, you can customize the controls at your convenience. The touch controls worked well during my testing, with occasional misses on double tap gestures being our only complaint. However, I was surprised that the TOZO Golden X1 lacks wear-detection sensors for automatically playing and pausing music. The only drawback is that only 5 of 10 options can be re-assigned to different functions.
They use the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology for wireless convenience, making the connectivity and pairing process simple and quick. While playing Bluetooth music, I don’t observe any latency or signal disruptions. Connection strength proved steadfast, though they only support an effective Bluetooth range of 10 meters, which is below average compared to most recent offerings from competitors.
The internal radio runs on A2DP, ACRCP, HFP, and HSP protocols, and SBC, AAC, and LDAC are compatible audio codecs. However, this set doesn’t run any aptX codecs. The earpieces’ in-ear design ensures comfort and long-distance connectivity, which is ideal when you are away from your device. The instant pairing of these earpieces works without delay, as they connect with my device effortlessly, providing steady transmission without interruptions.
Design and Comfort
The ergonomic design of TOZO Golden X1 ensures a secure and comfortable fit within the ear’s inner curve. Moreover, the earpieces’ compact size and extra ear tips allow for a customized fit. The headsets were secure and comfortable during my testing, even during physical activities and prolonged listening sessions. Because they are lightweight, I had no issue leaving them in for hours.
I don’t have any complaints about the building quality of the charging case. It is small and durable. It is small enough to carry around and easily fits jeans. A tiny LED on the charging case tells you the remaining charging and the L/R indicator is helpful when you are busy. I get a battery full/low indicator under the cap, which looks calm. Furthermore, the small size has an ergonomically designed inner shell and a short stem that provides a good grip inside the grip. They are sonically sensitive to ear tip selection, especially size-wise because the wrong size mainly affects the bass.
I also noticed that the wrong selection affects the midrange bands I saw. You can also use the aftermarket tips with the output nozzles, but they seem slightly oval at the tip. The half-stem statement fits it precisely because it is not lengthy but just stubs. It gives me something to grab onto when you insert the earpieces, but the stem could be more obvious, and I like that feature.
TOZO employed a well-organized ergonomic design. The output stem and the brand’s logo on the touchpad are gold-plated. Additionally, the outer skin is made of high-quality polymers. Each earphone weighs over five grams, while the carry case weighs 43 grams. The pill-shaped case opens to reveal a pairing button and a USB Type-C charging port at the back.
TOZO App
The TOZO App is available for iPhone and Android users, who can download it from the Play Store and App Store. It is a full-featured app with all the features you’d expect from a mid-tier TWS model. It includes a 10-band equalizer with sixteen presets, but you can also create your own EQ curve presets and save them for later use.
Another section will help users play with the Golden X1 touch control functions. The app also allows users to select Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, Leisure Mode, and Reduced Wind Noise. The ear print technology test is the most exciting feature, as it gives you a series of yes or no choices within points of the frequency bands. Afterward, you can save those curves as presets. I found this feature to be mid-bass-biased.
The app’s adjustable EQ settings add another dimension of sound modification, resolving minor issues like the slightly underexposed mid-bass frequencies. As discussed above, users can save their preset for future use or listening, which is always useful. TOZO app has applied an AI algorithm recompense for the sound ranges where your hearing is not as sharp. You can also re-map the touch controls inside the companion app.
Playtime
Both buds have a 50mAh battery inside and a 500mAh reserve battery inside the charging case. According to TOZO, earbuds offer 8 hours of playtime on a single charge, and the case allows users to enjoy 32 hours of playtime, providing four additional full charges from a single cradle charge. I had the best time, under 5 hours, using an LDAC codec transmission from my laptop or a Google Pixel.
However, that number can be improved by using a less demanding codec like SBC and keeping the volume low. In my other testing, I managed 7 hours of usage on a single charge with Active Noise Cancellation off and up to four complete recharges with the case. Using the ANC and streaming over LDAC, I fully charged the buds and their charging case in 2 hours via USB Type-C.
I assessed and evaluated the battery life of these earpieces with different functionalities and features. These buds can provide great sound quality for up to 8 hours of playtime at around fifty percent and sixty percent volume, without activated ANC, and up to thirty-three hours with their case. With LDAC and Multipoint Connectivity on, I could use the earpieces for around 5 to 6 hours.
However, I didn’t observe any fast charging with the charging case, which disappointed me as I expected premium-quality buds with this feature. The case with a 500mAh battery capacity takes around 2 to 2.5 hours for a full charge. Furthermore, with the wireless charging feature, you can charge the case using the Qi wireless charger.
